Books that demand an encore.
We believe that out of print books deserve an encore. Although other publishers rescue works that have fallen into the public domain from obscurity, few reprint from small, independent presses that folded during the twenty-first century and left new, exciting literature lost before its time.
Doubleback Books is an imprint of Sundress Press.

Haunting the Wrong House
“Haunting the Wrong House” is a puppetry skit by Therese Aun and Lorna Gentry, based on three poems written by Danielle Hanson, that together build a narrative about relationships and loss. From the chaos and terror of an infestation of angels, to the careful construction of a shared life, and the ending of that life together, the piece explores the tension between the spiritual and physical, between life and death. The piece is puppeteered by Ann Peterle and Aun, with Hanson narrating. Simon Reynolds is the scenic designer. Chip Epsten provides accompany with his original violin music, composed for the performance. “Haunting the Wrong House” will be performed using a variety of puppetry styles, including bunraku, shadow and found object puppetry. “Haunting the Wrong House” was performed May 16-19, 2018 at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Midtown.
